At the top of the hour, Adrian and Ethan welcome Emmy winning educational television producer Scott Catamas for a chat about empathy.

And before our friend Louis Fawcett, Director of Development for Mercy & Sharing, calls in near the end of the show with an update about his recent trip to Haiti, I help Adrian and Ethan bestow a surprise honor on Ethan’s daughter, Shawn, in my weekly Hero of the Week segment. She helped her dad create Combat Radio’s annual Christmas Breakfast for Homeless Children and has started countless food, clothing, and toy drives for children in need. Ethan’s own philanthropy is obviously alive and well in his daughter’s good works!

After filming a movie in Russia and visiting the children’s hospital in Hungary where we delivered the infant respirator, Adrian Paul comes home to Los Angeles to join Ethan Dettenmaier in the L.A. Talk Radio studios after having to Skype in for the last several shows.

I call in for my weekly Hero of the Week segment to tell the story of Neha Gupta, a 17-year-old from Pennsylvania who transformed an annual tradition in her grandparents’ town in India into an international charity called Empower Orphans, which has raised over a million dollars not only to feed and educate orphaned children but also to give them the skills and confidence they need to build lives of their own.

Ethan Dettenmaier holds down the fort in the studio in Los Angeles as Adrian Paul calls in from Hungary with an emotional update about the infant respirator we were able to acquire for a children’s hospital there. Adrian visited the hospital and got to see it in action; more info and a photo at the Peace Fund site.

Later in the show, I talk about our Hero of the Week, Eunice Muba, a 13-year-old girl from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who’s using journalism and activism to fight for better lives for children there.
