Some of my favorite films — including Tombstone and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford — are Westerns.
(I also love most of the Crowe/Bale remake of 3:10 to Yuma, but I’ve still never made peace with what I think is an overwhelming tonal disparity in its final minutes, but whatever.)
Meanwhile, one of my favorite actors is Ed Harris. Did you see him as a tough Boston cop in Gone Baby Gone last year? That was Maximum Ed Harris. Highly recommended.
Harris directed a Western called Appaloosa that comes out (in limited release) on September 17, which is right around the corner. (It goes wide on October 3.) He wrote it with longtime genre actor Robert Knott and stars in it with Viggo Mortensen, Renee Zellweger, and Jeremy Irons (as the bad guy, and he’s really good at playing bad guys).
You can check out the trailer here.
I’ve always wanted Ed Harris to play Agent Graves if a 100 Bullets TV show were made.
I want to see that movie, man. :)
Harris would make a killer Graves. By all means, check out his work in Gone Baby Gone. It’s Maximum Ed Harris.
