The four new 90-minute GILMORE GIRLS episodes that comprise “A Year in the Life” — “Winter,” “Spring,” “Summer,” and “Fall” — are available now on NetFlix.
At their best, they’re lovely, lively, and wonderful.
At their worst, they engage in the same kinds of forced character drama that had hobbled the show so badly by the end of season six that it’s a miracle the seventh (and, until now, final) year was able to course-correct its way to a finale I still defend.
I’m working on a review, but it’s coming slowly. Until then, fire away with your thoughts in the comments below!
So many feelings about this…I watched all four at once and think I need to go back and really watch again.
But honestly, I wasn’t impressed. And the first episode stunk. Bad. But i will give it another go and see how I feel.
I loved that Paris didn’t really change and seeing all the familiar faces made me feel warm and fuzzy. Overall, it was solid, but I would have been just fine without the update.
