William Hurt joins The Incredible Hulk!

I really thought Ang Lee’s 2003 Hulk movie was awful.

It was so lame, in fact, that I was afraid I’d never be able to be excited about a Hulk movie again.

That changed earlier this year when it was announced that Edward Norton would take the role of Dr. Banner in a reboot/revamp by Louis Letterier, who directed The Transporter and its sequel.

This was excellent news.

And then!

And then!

It was announced that Liv Tyler — my sweet, sweet Liv Tyler — had been cast as Banner’s star-crossed lover, Betty Ross.

And the good news just kept coming. Tim Roth snagged the part of Emil Blonsky, an enemy agent who tries to replicate the accident that awakened The Hulk inside of Banner but instead turns himself into a wicked, hateful monstrosity called The Abomination, who’s even more powerful than Banner’s misunderstood, not-always-jolly green giant.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter reports that William Hurt will play General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the military man in charge of hunting down Banner and “containing” The Hulk.

General Ross is also Betty’s dad, which makes it even more complicated.

I was a huge fan of the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno TV series and its televised sequel movies that featured the original on-film appearances of Thor (Eric Allan Kramer) and Daredevil (Rex Smith).

Interviews with Kramer and Smith, along with Lou Ferrigno and Elizabeth Gracen (from Death of the Incredible Hulk), can be found here.

This new movie is set to ignore 2003’s complicated, convoluted mess and take the concept — of a good man hunted from every direction and on the run with a big green problem — back to the roots of the TV series and the original comics.

And with talent like Norton, Tyler, Roth and now Hurt involved, it’s sure to be a knockout.

The Incredible Hulk will sit wherever he wants to in the theater near you on June 13, 2008!

Lauren Graham hotter than a two-dollar pistol at Evan Almighty premiere

My number one gal Lauren Graham was at the premiere of Evan Almighty — which she stars in with Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman — on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

As usual, she was so gorgeous it hurts.

There are lots more pictures here, including tons of cast members from The Office.

Angela Kinsey — so frumpy and generally unpleasant as Angela on the show — is one of the most vibrant and beautiful women I’ve ever seen. And Mindy Kaling, who plays Kelly, is such a doll.

Enjoy the photos! Evan Almighty rides out the flood on June 22.

Video and info from today’s Batman press conference!

The good folks over at the Batman on Film Message Forum posted some wonderful links to articles and a video from the Batman press conference held today in Chicago.

Click right here to watch ABC 7’s video of the press conference and read the accompanying article, which features comments from director Christopher Nolan and the Bat-man, Christian Bale.

Bale talks about having to wear a black rubber suit in the hot summer Chicago humidity. “If you see a long trail of sweat through the city, follow it and you will find me.”

And he’s not just wearing the suit. He’s jumping and running and kicking and punching and gas-powered magnetic grapple-gunning and zip-lining and Batmobiling in it. That’s dedication. I changed my car battery this afternoon and felt like I sweat 11 buckets, so I can’t imagine what being Batman would be like*. Rock on.

You can also check out a photo of Bale at City Hall with Chicago’s mayor, Richard M. Daley:

(The original photo appears here, but you’ve got to go through a ridiculous registration process to see it.)

The Dark Knight whisks us to the days of high adventure on a kevlar utility harness filled with nachos and Cokes on July 18, 2008!

* That’s a lie. I try to imagine it about 37 times a day.
