Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Rachel Dawes will be “spicy” like Carrie Fisher in STAR WARS

I think Maggie Gyllenhaal is one of the loveliest women on the planet, and it’s hard to find an actor more talented or fearless than my girl Maggie.

And I know I’ve been posting lots of her comments about playing Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend (and Gotham City legal eagle) Rachel Dawes in next summer’s Batman movie, THE DARK KNIGHT, lately, but I can’t help it because she keeps saying amazing things, like this:

“I’m kind of thinking I’ll be a bit spicy, like Carrie Fisher in STAR WARS.”

Maggie Ruth Gyllenhaal! If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to make me fall in love with you or something.

THE DARK KNIGHT debuts in the theater near you on July 18, 2008!

The giant, photo-filled carrying case includes the following:

• 153 episodes on 42 discs

• Picture-packed Episode Guide book

• “Gilmore-isms” book

• Hours of bonus features

The set will retail for $258.82.

However!

Amazon’s taking pre-orders for $77.83 off, bringing it down to a very affordable $180.99.

Looks like I’ll be selling all my old individual season boxed sets on eBay or something to put the cash toward this very impressive collection.

Thanks to Kyle for the heads-up, and to Lauren Helen Graham for making me want to be a better man.

_______________

Update:

There’s no actual footage from the movie. It’s all voices. It begins with the Batman emblem slowly coming apart with light pouring in from behind it. And at the end, right before it evaporates completely, you can briefly see the image of a Joker card.

Here’s the dialogue that plays over the logo:

Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) says, “I knew the mob wouldn’t go down without a fight. But this is different. They’ve crossed the line.”

“You crossed the line first, sir,” replies his trusted butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine). “You hammered them, and in their desperation they turned to a man they didn’t fully understand. Some men aren’t looking for anything logical. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

And then The Joker (Heath Ledger) says, “Starting tonight, people will die. I’m a man of my word.” And then he starts laughing and it’s terrifying.
