Quantum of Awesome

I really liked the first James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig:

DVD Review: Casino Royale

And now that I’ve seen The Dark Knight, the upcoming movie I’m most excited about is the next Craig/Bond installment, Quantum of Solace.

Click here to check out the new theatrical trailer, which looks 47 kinds of bad-ass.

Planes! Motorcycles! Boats! Cars! Guns! Babes! Bond! November 14!

Review: Detective Comics #848

You can read it right here, and thanks again to Bill for the opportunity!

And while you’re there, check out our good friend Stephanie’s first installment of her new monthly column.

Congratulations, Stephanie!

I’m very, very proud of you, and it’s been an honor watching you grow as a writer who has good things happen to her because she does good work. This hasn’t exactly been a banner year for my faith in humanity, but you keep proving me wrong for all the right reasons.

No Cobblepot for Hoffman

Following up on today’s earlier post, our good friend Bill “Jett” Ramey of Batman on Film points out this new MTV article in which Philip Seymour Hoffman says he’s a Batman fan but that somebody else should probably play Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, a.k.a. “The Penguin”:

“I’m such a fan of those movies,” related Hoffman. “Comic book movies in general I look forward to — I am a real cheerleader for them. I want them to do well because those are terrific stories. As a kid I was a big comic book collector. What [Nolan]’s doing is taking it in a whole other exciting great place. I’m more a fan, so the interest of being in it isn’t that great. It’s more the interest in wanting to see the next one. It’s probably better that way.”
When further pressed for his level of interest in the role if Warner Bros. approached him about the role, Hoffman said, “I don’t know. I think I’m more interested in seeing someone else do it. I don’t know if I’d be a good Penguin to be quite honest.” [laughs]

He’d have been entirely Philip Seymour Awesome in the role, but, as was pointed out earlier, we don’t even know if Cobblepot will be in the next movie, much less who’d play him.

And I’m still banging the “Casey Affleck for Riddler” drum, and I’d love to see Bale’s Bruce Wayne meet Selina Kyle …
