According to Pete Hammond over at Deadline, writer/director Christopher Nolan is set to receive the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s highest honor, the Modern Master Award, at the Arlington Theatre in January.
(Toad the Wet Sprocket recorded their amazing live album at the Arlington in 1992. And I’ve been to Santa Barbara before, and it’s just mindbogglingly beautiful. Nolan is partly responsible for my visit there, as a matter of fact, because it was part of the tour of California I took when I went out there in 2008 to see The Dark Knight with my friend Kareem.)
Nolan’s list of movies reads like a master class in amazing — Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception. He’s making the new Batman next, and producing the next Superman.
Yeah. I think he’s earned it. So congratulations, good sir, and thank you for never letting us forget why we fell in love with going to the movies.
