Tim Blake Nelson joins Ed Norton’s Incredible Hulk!

First, some homework:

Ed Norton to make green for being green

Liv Tyler joins Ed Norton in The Incredible Hulk!

Tim Roth joins Ed Norton and Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk!

William Hurt joins Ed Norton, Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk!

And now, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Tim Blake Nelson — the accomplished character actor who was so hilarious as Delmar in O Brother, Where Art Thou? — has joined the cast of The Incredible Hulk as scientist Samuel Sterns, who becomes super intelligent but oddly deformed after a lab accident involving gamma radiation. His skin is turned green, but unlike the dose that turned Dr. Bruce Banner into the huge, monstrously powerful Hulk, Sterns’s brain gets soaked with gamma rays that leave him super intelligent but oddly deformed and plenty crazy. The result is a villain called The Leader.

Wow! What a cast. We’ve got Ed Norton as Bruce Banner, Liv Tyler as his star-crossed lover, Betty Ross, Tim Roth as The Abomination and William Hurt as Betty’s father, General Thunderbolt Ross, who leads the U.S. military on its hunt for Banner and the secrets his tragic biology contains.

Roth will provide villainous muscle, while Nelson will bring the evil brains.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The explosive, action-packed adventure in one of the all-time most popular superhero sagas unfolds with a cure in reach for the world’s most primal force of fury: The Incredible Hulk. We find scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) living in shadows, scouring the planet for an antidote. But the warmongers who dream of abusing his powers won’t leave him alone, nor will his need to be with the only woman he has ever loved, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler). Upon returning to civilization, our brilliant doctor is ruthlessly pursued by The Abomination (Tim Roth) — a nightmarish beast of pure adrenaline and aggression whose powers match The Hulk’s own. A fight of comic-book proportions ensues as Banner must call upon the hero within to rescue New York City from total destruction. And on June 13, 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice — accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or the creature he could permanently become: The Incredible Hulk.

It’s going to be awesome.

And!

Don’t forget that the second season of The Incredible Hulk, starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, is out now on DVD.

And!

I’m really excited about this movie. But you knew that already.
